Elon Musk sparks debate by calling Instagram 'for girls'

Elon Musk recently declared that Instagram is a platform “for girls.” This statement ignited a fresh wave of online discussion and debate regarding gender stereotypes associated with social media use. The remark also appeared to reignite a rivalry between Musk and Meta, the parent company of Instagram.

The assertion touches upon long-standing perceptions of visual-centric platforms and their perceived user demographics. It prompts reflection on how digital spaces are gendered and the implications of such pronouncements from prominent figures in the technology sector.
