Riyadh airport closure continues, UAE airlines extend flight cancellations

Riyadh's international airport will remain closed for the remainder of the week, leading to extended flight cancellations by airlines operating in the United Arab Emirates. The prolonged disruption at the Saudi capital's main gateway affects regional travel and commerce. The closure follows an unspecified incident that necessitated its shutdown.

This extended closure impacts connectivity within the Gulf Cooperation Council and beyond. The situation is compounded by the UK's imposition of sanctions on Iranians and revised economic forecasts from the International Monetary Fund, which has lowered growth projections for the Gulf region. The airport's operational status remains a key concern for regional stability.
