Turkish minister surveys flood damage in Istanbul

Following heavy rainfall in Istanbul, Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum assessed the damage and coordinated relief efforts. The minister reported that 53 retaining walls collapsed across 39 districts due to the downpour, with 300 businesses and 200 vehicles damaged in Ayazağa alone. Approximately 7,800 of the 9,755 reported incidents received immediate attention from response units.

The government has pledged that no citizen will be left without assistance. The incident highlights the city's vulnerability to extreme weather events, a growing concern in urban centers worldwide. The focus now shifts to infrastructure repair and long-term mitigation strategies to address the impact of such climatic challenges.
